DE LORENZO'S FANTASY FILLED CATWALK EXTRAVAGANZA FOR ANNUAL ASPYA CONFERENCE

The opening night of De Lorenzo's annual ASPYA salon conference was an unforgettable masterpiece of opulence and splendour.  It was a fitting tribute to the company's rich family heritage and its contribution to changing the landscape of the Australian hair industry. Guests were taken on an emotionally charged visual journey, which unfolded the story of De Lorenzo through a visually narrated on-screen script and a starry-eyed interpretation of its founder's original vision and hair creations.

In the opening segment, models brightly adorned in Josh Goot's latest floral creations emerged from a make-believe greenhouse bursting with flowers, and sashayed down the runway showcasing hair that was larger than life.

The second section brought to life Mr Vincent de Lorenzo's award winning 'nautical' themed hairstyle with a shipwrecked twist and drama drenched glamour.

A decadent, gelati coloured 'Marie Antoinette' themed third section opened to an audible gasp of appreciation from the audience. Set on a beautiful Maison style daybed, sat models dressed in an opulent array of stunning tulle vintage ball gowns, complimented by a delicious palette of sorbet hair colours.  The look recreated Mr Vincent's original, seven coloured bouffant hairstyle that won him the Australian Hairdresser of the year award in 1949.

The final section of the show conveyed De Lorenzo's natural approach to haircare through use of ingredients "as pure as snow".

A dramatic and whimsical display of snow drenched avant guard hairstyles and clothing.

This beautiful 'Alice in Wonderland' fairytale style show closed to a thunderous round of applause from guests and crew alike.

A special thank you must be given to the talented team of hairstylists, makeup artists, musical composers, choreographers, models, fashion stylists, dressers, AV crew, De Lorenzo national technical team, headed by the talented Deborah French, and De Lorenzo Marketing Department, but especially to the talented Sarah Laidlaw who brought this stunning vision to life.

BELLA THE CUT AND COLOUR SALON WINS ASPYA SALON OF THE YEAR AWARD!

At a prestigious Gala Dinner Awards night held as part of the ASPYA conference 2011, in Queenstown NZ. De Lorenzo DIrectors Chris and Anthony De Lorenzo were proud to announce Bella the Cut and Colour Salon, in Victoria as the ASPYA Salon of the year award winner for 2011.

While judging between all top three finalists was tight, it was Bella's creative and thoughtful approach to education that made them stand out. Bella's pay it forward system of education, encompasses levels of education for staff who receive one on one training with their salon peers and are then encouraged to pay it forward.

Bella the Cut and Colour has been a loyal ASPYA member since 2004. They have won numerous local business awards, demonstrated a very philanthropic approach to business by generaouslu giving back to the community through supporting several local charities, events and fundraisers, and their marketing initiatives including e-newsletters, advertising, direct mail campaigns were so clever and well designed that even we were inspired by them.

Congratulations also to our 1st runner up Hair Beauty Soul, NSW and 2nd runner up Hair Review, QLD

Neon Nights - Colour Blocking

The new S/S Novacolor collection 'Neon Nights' was based on the trend 'colour blocking'. Colour blocking is when two or more opposing or contrasting blocks of colour are combined where they compliment each other. This year its all about mixing lots of colours, we have seen the trend on the S/S 2011 runways with Diane Von Furstenburg, Jil Sander and Louis Vuitton and De Lorenzo has used it as its main inspiration for 'Neon Nights'.

Fashion Trend: The clothes and accessories featured in the 'Neon Nights' shoot were bright, bold and colourful, from electric yellow to fluro orange. Lots of block colour helped to create the vivid neon bright look.

Makeup Trend: Eyes and lips are the feature for colour blocking. Keep your base matte and well covered, with just a little blush or bronzer and really let your eyes and lips be the standout, let them clash and pop!

Hair Trend: Colour blocking fashion has crossed over to hair in a big way. The colour blocking trend shows that a contrasting colour is strategically placed in order to enhance and add depth to the hair cut and style usually with two shades lighter or darker.

Behind The Scenes De Lorenzo Neon Nights

Inspired by the French master of fashion photography Guy Bourdin is De Lorenzo's latest Spring/Summer Novacolor Collection Neon Nights. This season fashion is all about colour blocks, while make up is coral tones on a dewy fresh palette of skin. To compliment this look is the new Novacolor Red 'Inferno' and red Vibrant series. Master hair stylist and winner of the De Lorenzo Gold Gallery competition Sofia Azorakos has created three wearable looks for blondes, brunettes and redheads and says that these colours are designed to make an impact. "Its not about being shy with this colour, you've got to wear it with confidence".
