Trend Alert: Messy Up Do

The messy up-do or the undone up-do is all about embracing the frizz and flyaways and creating a relaxed look that can be dressed up or down. It could also be great wedding hair.
One tip to remember - backcombing is your friend. Create volume and texture using the De Lorenzo Elements styling products.

What you will need:

De Lorenzo Vapour Mist Medium Hold Hairspray
De Lorenzo Extinguish Thermal Protector Spray
De Lorenzo Sandstorm Texture Spray
Bobby pins
Comb
Curling iron

1. Prep the hair with Extinguish thermal protector spray. Curl your hair with a curling iron.
2. Back comb the hair around the crown of your head
3. Spray with Sandstorm Texture Spray and rub hair in a circular motion to create flyaways.
4. Style in either a ponytail, bun or half up/half down
5. Finish off with spray of  Vapour Mist medium hold hairspray

Here is a little inspiration from the red carpet.

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards: Blue Carpet Showdown

The Best and Worst Dressed

on the Blue Carpet

Sheer material, sequins and far too high thigh slits seemed to characterise the blue carpet of the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas last Sunday. Not afraid to make a splash, the best of the best in the music industry flocked to the MGM Grand Garden Arena and whilst some hit the mark with their daring outfit choices, others fell somewhat short of it.

Our top three Best Dressed of the evening:
Taylor Swift looks electrifying in her blue dress, straying from her classic white and cream robes and red lippy and making it work for her.

Miley Cyrus is not afraid to dress outside the box. In this black and white jumpsuit with harlequin design, she has done just that, while subtly accentuating her feminine features.

Jennifer Lopez makes a va-va voom entrance in her golden dress, with the iconic plunging neckline. Yet with understated hair and make up, it suits her marvellously.

Our top three Worst Dressed of the evening:
Ke$ha calls it her “Nearly Naked Dress”. In reality, it just seems unhygienic.

Carly Rae Jepsen has come to the blue carpet with best intentions: strategically placed geometric shapes on a sheer dress, a look that’s very much in fashion. However, with bizarre additions to the silhouette, the dress simply doesn’t do her petite frame justice.

Jennifer Morrison wears a beautiful corset that would surely make Dita Von Teese proud, yet with the entirely sheer long skirt it feels as though something’s missing.

Tell us what you think. Do you agree with our verdict?

Hair Crush: Kate Middleton

How does she do it?
– Tips and Tricks for the Royal Glow

It has been said that pregnant women have a glow about them. And no one glows more than the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. Serious morning sickness or not, Kate has been looking radiant during her term of pregnancy. With the due date coming up in exactly two months we look at how you yourself can recreate this glorious glow.

Pregnancy changes a woman’s body in many ways. Hair is no exception. The two most common issues women encounter whilst pregnant are dry and brittle hair or excess oil, leaving hair limp and oily. De Lorenzo’s Prescriptive Solutions Series are perfectly adapted to these dilemmas, restoring your hair to its former glory, naturally.

The thickness and shine that supposedly comes with being pregnant is not bestowed on everyone. De Lorenzo’s ‘Intense’ Shampoo and Conditioner from their Prescriptive Solutions range is a moisture balance treatment that strengthens, nourishes and repairs hair. If paired with the Essential Treatments Protein Complex Spray

– your hair will become strengthened and replenished. If you have dry hair it is important to shampoo less frequently, as this strips your hair of its natural oils. Essential Treatments ‘Equilibrium’ by contrast is a deep repair treatment masque that transforms your hair into the silky hair you were promised during pregnancy.

With the different hormonal changes experienced by women, not everyone develops dry hair. Others produce excess oil, leaving their hair limp and oily.  De Lorenzo have developed a pre-shampoo Oil Balance Spray that rebalances your oily roots and dry ends with organic rosehip and linseed oils. Followed by the ‘Control’ Shampoo and Conditioner from their Prescriptive Solutions Range, this mild olive and coconut-based cleanser will refresh, cleanse and liberate the scalp and hair.
With little research as to the effects of certain skin and hair care products when pregnant, doctors caution to use those that are chemical-free. De Lorenzo products contain no parabens, no petrochemicals, use fair trade, certified organic ingredients and are cruelty free. De Lorenzo: what’s best for mother, child and the environment. Can you really place a price on peace of mind?

The Met Ball 2013

A red carpet run down of the Met Ball 2013

The Met Ball (or Met Gala) marks the “Night of Nights” for the fashion industry as the bold and beautiful flock to the Metropolitan Museum to celebrate the opening of the fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. This year, the theme of the evening was Punk: Chaos to Couture, and the celebrities in attendance did not disappoint.

With an endless who’s who of A-List Celebrities, the hair styles rocked on the evening were some for the ages. With Nicole Richie and Anne Hathaway sporting silver grey and platinum blonde respectively, or Sarah Jessica Parker’s milliner extravaganza – it wasn’t your everyday red carpet

Not always an easy feat to marry the grunge and daring of punk with couture, there are those who made the connection elegantly and seamlessly.

Unfortunately we can’t all be winners and there were certainly a few fashion flops to attest to the old saying.
